Spud Spikes for baking, grilling, and barbequing.

How do we apply a new finish to our freshly removed popcorn ceiling?

QuestionAfter years of living with our popcorn ceilings, they're finally gone (hooray!). What do we do now to give our ceilings a more finished look?

AnswerWith your popcorn ceilings gone, you are now ready to install a new ceiling texture.

You may want to contact a drywall contractor to apply the texture. You'll be able to select the texture you want and the pros will complete the job quickly.

If you want to save money by doing the work yourself, my book, Remodeling A Bathroom, Chapter 5, Working with Wallboard (pages 79 - 93), offers lots of ideas on different textures and how to apply them to walls or ceilings. If you just want a smooth ceiling, the book covers that as well.

All the materials you will need are readily available at home improvement centers.
