Builders who construct modular homes

QuestionHello—great site! I am looking for a company, or companies, who build modular homes using natural and at least somewhat nontoxic materials. Do you know of any companies on the market who can handle fairly large orders? They seem to be very difficult to find. I may have located one in Austria and one Fairfield, IA, but no others yet. —Thanks.

AnswerYour question is a tall order! I recommend that you begin with the Austin Green Building Program. The city of Austin, TX, has been a leader in this area, and most likely they will have contacts. You may also want to attend a "Green By Design" workshop presented by Austin Energy.
